Invisalign Braces
Invisalign vs. Braces
All Invisalign Not Same

Align Technologies, the makers of Invisalign, are always making improvements to their Invisalign product. Compared to 10 or even 5 years ago, Invisalign has made tremendous improvements in their product. The result is an Invisalign product that is more predictable at moving teeth. However, patients must understand that just like different orthodontists will use the same braces but get different results, different orthodontists will use Invisalign and get different results. This is because the treating doctor tells the Invisalign Lab Technician how to move the teeth, which teeth to move, and when to move them. If certain teeth are programmed to move too soon, they can collide with each other and produce unwanted results. Because the Invisalign Lab Technicians are not doctors, they may set up the teeth to move in a way that will not likely occur. Thus it is up to the doctor to and his experience to work with the technician to provide a tooth-movement plan that will translate into real results for the patient.
Often times with braces, we use special appliances or elastics to help us achieve the best final result. Invisalign is no different. To get the best result with Invisalign (especially in more complicated cases), sometimes we still need to use special appliances or elastics. Often times, these appliances and/or elastics are not very noticeable. For patients with more complicated problems, appliances and/or elastics may allow them to still get great results with Invisalign and either eliminate or greatly shorten the time needed in braces.
