Should I Get Braces or Veneers?

Can I get veneers or crowns instead of braces?
Some dentists recommend “Instant orthodontics.” “Instant orthodontics” is when a veneer or crown is placed over crooked teeth to give them the appearance of being straight. “Instant orthodontics” is not done by an orthodontist and is not orthodontics at all because teeth are not being moved. Veneers or crowns placed on teeth with crooked roots may cause problems over time. In addition, when veneers and crowns are placed on teeth, tooth structure must be removed. Thus, more conservative approaches like orthodontics are often preferred over veneers and crowns. If your teeth are chipped, misshaped, or discolored, your orthodontist may recommend veneers or crowns or teeth whitening after your roots are aligned and the braces are removed.
